Each time you book yourself online with the MindBody App you get a reward of .75 cents for example, after 20 appointments that’s = $15.00!
Each time you buy a Medispa product or service, you get points at 2.5% (more value than Shoppers Optimum).
Points expire 6 months from activation, so be sure to put your points toward your purchases and visit us often.

WHAT WE’RE ABOUT AND HOW WE BEGAN:

At Essentials Medi-Spa all services are approved by plastic surgeon, Dr. Trevor Brooks. He also personally selected the products we sell, from medical grade sunscreen to scar cream. Dr. Brooks ensures all of the technology, services and treatment techniques at our medi-spa are to the standards expected of a plastic surgery clinic.

The clinic started when Dr. Brooks and his wife, Chelsea, moved to Medicine Hat in 2014. Once the plastic surgery portion of the clinic was running smoothly they opted to slowly expand. Essentials Medi- Spa is the result of years of pre-planning and research. We have attended conferences with the leaders in our industry and have developed our best practices with consideration of what policies and safety protocols are in place at world renowned asethetics clinics.

Our registered nurse and cosmetic injector, Kara, was the first to join our team in Spring 2017. In the cosmetic aesthetics industry it is rare that a nurse injector may receive anatomy training and direction for injection techniques from a specialist plastic surgeon. Most cosmetic injectors receive their training from weekend or one day seminars, but Dr. Brooks wanted to be 100% confident in the skills and knowledge of our staff. Dr. Brooks supports the continued professional development of our nurses at conferences, including Plastic Surgeon Mauricio De Maio’s MD Codes, Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist examination at ISPAN (the International Society of Plastic Surgery & Aesethetic Nurses) as a compliment to his instruction. Dr. Brooks has trained with nationally recognized expert injectors including Calgary’s Dr. Kent Remington (dermatology), Montreal’s Dr. Arthur Swift (plastic surgery) and Dr. Sebastian Cotofana (anatomy). Lifelong learning is something we appreciate and are committed to.

Our certified aesthetician & advanced laser technician, Dalyce, joined the group in Spring 2018 and with the addition of Candela’s Gentle Max Pro Laser she began offering laser hair removal, laser spider-vein removal, sun spot removal, photofacials, and Alumier MD chemical peels. The PicoWay laser completed her arsenal in Spring 2019. Dalyce runs the picosecond Resolve hand piece for laser facial treatments to target acne scarring, melasma, & overall sun damage and the Zoom hand piece for dark spot & tattoo removal. Dalyce has attended multiple advanced laser training seminars; she is capable of offering a wide range of treatment plans. We can’t wait for you to see her results for yourself!

A second certified aesthetician, Sara, specializing in microblading eyebrows joined the team in Fall 2018. Sara continued her training to become certified in HydraFacial, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, micro-needling, and paramedical stretch mark & scar camouflage.

To keep up with the phone and over double the number of people seen each day, in Fall 2018, we hired Dena. Dena has over 15 years of experience and it shows. You will love chatting with her on the phone or in person.

Our third certified aesthetician, Amanda, joined our crew in August 2020. Amanda incorporates Hungarian massage techniques in her luxury medical facials. Under direction of Dr. Brooks she offers our patients Morpheus8 treatments (radio-frequency with micro-needling) for skin tightening. With over 9 years of experience she has a vast knowledge of medical skin care ingredients and their uses.

In August of 2021 we welcomed a second aesthetic nurse, Kelsey. Kelsey took both the Botox Course & Filler Course training in Calgary with Dr. Andrew Dargie. Kelsey was eager to join a plastic surgery practice where she can further her aesthetic training with experienced colleagues.

Tenille accepted a position as receptionist and medical office assistant in October 2021. She is dedicated to professionalism and kindness when helping our patients and we are confident you will feel taken care of.

The 9 of us on staff simply love what we do.

What is unique to our medi-spa is that the specialist may be consulted whenever the nurse or aesthetician might have a concern.

Should a mole be lasered? Dr. Brooks will let you know if it is a bad idea, he sees thousands of skin cancers each year.

Facial filler vs Facial skin tightening vs Face lift? Before spending thousands on filler, maybe Dr. Brooks will explain a series of skin tightening treatments or a face lift is the only way to achieve certain results.

Botox vs Laser facial rejuvenation? Fine lines around the mouth can be treated in many ways. Dr. Brooks and the whole staff want you see improvements from the start, so we won’t suggest something that isn’t the best starting point.

Meet Dr. Brooks

Dr. Brooks completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Manitoba. His medical school training was completed at the University of Alberta. At the University of Calgary Dr. Brooks received a Master of Science in Biomedical Technology to complement his Bachelor of Science in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology.

Dr. Brooks has been published in peer reviewed medical journals, and has presented at both national and international conferences.

Dr. Brooks also offers cosmetic procedures like facial filler, hand filler and Botox, but he will humbly tell you that his nurses are better at injecting than he is because they inject daily and he injects less frequently as he has a busy operating schedule. Dr. Brooks has trained with Dr. Remington and Dr. Swift, two uncontested masters of injectables & aesthetics.

Meet Kara

Kara received her Bachelor’s of Nursing from the University of Calgary in 2006, and started her career in pediatrics and neonatal intensive care where she continues to work.

She has a detailed eye for beauty which she utilizes when creating individualized treatment plans to achieve natural looking results. Kara is passionate about helping her patients look and feel their best by enhancing their own beauty.

Through ongoing education and training with expert cosmetic professionals, she continues to perfect her skills in medical aesthetic treatments including PRP injections for facial rejuvenation or hair restoration, and skin tightening with the Morpheus8.

Meet Kelsey

Kelsey was born and raised in Medicine Hat. She graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Nursing in 2016. Her first position was at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital in Labour and Delivery where she continues to work.

Kelsey completed extensive injectable training in 2019 when she took the renowned Botox Course & Filler Course in Calgary with Dr. Andrew Dargie. She strives to provide her patients with the highest standard of care. Her consultations include time to listen and understand your goals in order to help reveal your natural beauty. She takes pride in making you feel your best by boosting your inner confidence, or providing therapeutic Botox for migraines, bruxism or hyperhidrosis.

Meet Dalyce

Medicine Hat born and raised, Dalyce knows just how to help her clients feel special; a visit with her promises to be good for your skin, and your soul.

For over a decade, she has trained and worked in many areas of aesthetics. She is passionate about the science of beauty and is continually learning and growing within the industry.

Dalyce is formally trained and certified as a Medical Aesthetician and Laser Tech. She is excited to show you the difference proper education and state of the art equipment can make.

Meet Amanda

Amanda has over 6 years experience as a Certified Aesthetician with advanced training as a Paramedical Skin Therapist. Amanda graduated from the Academy of Aesthetics with a certificate of merit for scholastic achievement.

Her specialty is in HydraFacials with Microdermabrasion, & the full range of Alumier’s medical grade chemical peels. Amanda completed her Morpheus8 training in October 2020.

Amanda’s bespoke facials with Hungarian inspired facial massage techniques will leave you feeling relaxed, and her product recommendations will ensure you experience continued results with your tailored regime of Alumier MD home care products.

Meet Sara

Sara is a previous owner of one of Medicine Hat’s largest spas. She has over 10 years experience, and is excited to be joining the team at Essentials Medi-Spa!

Sara is a certified esthetician and is formally trained in microblading by one of Alberta’s most recognized trainers. Sara took her derma-planing training in July 2019 at the Esthetic Institute, and her micro-needling and paramedical tattooing certification in December 2019 at Eternal Beauty Institute of Medical Aesthetics.

Her extensive experience in medical spa treatments will have you looking youthful and feeling confident. Her passion & pride in her work are evident, and you will have peace of mind knowing that she makes sure each patient is treated with the best care & equipment from first consult to follow up.

Meet Dena

Dena started off her career in 1996 as a dental assistant. Due to her love of cosmetic dentistry, years later she specialized as an orthodontic assistant. She also has many years of experience as a receptionist in a busy orthodontic practice.

Dena enjoys seeing people feel good about themselves. She truly believes in taking care of your skin and enhancing one’s natural beauty in a positive way.

Dena loves helping and getting to know the patients/clients of Dr. Trevor Brooks and Essentials Medi-Spa. She is one of the pleasant voices that you hear when you call to book your appointments, and she looks forward to providing exceptional service to all patients.

Meet Tenille

Tenille was born in Lethbridge and has lived the majority of her life right here in Medicine Hat. She recently completed the Legal Administration Assistant program through the Academy of Learning, diligently achieving the honours list.

Tenille has been self-employed for the past 5 years, starting her own business as an eyelash extension tech in 2017. She has built a strong clientele and many lasting relationships all while enjoying helping people look and feel their best.

Tenille is thrilled to join our professional team, one that exemplifies her background and passion for beauty and aesthetics. She welcomes the opportunity to greet new patients always with a smile and the utmost professionalism.

Meet Chelsea

Chelsea is a true prairie girl – a Manitoban turned Albertan. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education with greatest distinction from Brandon University in 2006.

She began managing the office of Dr. Trevor Brooks Plastic Surgery upon it’s opening in February of 2014, and she planned & organized the addition of Essentials Medi-Spa in April of 2017. She has found running the clinic/medi-spa both a monumental and pleasant career change.

Her goal is to ensure patients and clients are taken care of from the moment the referral letters or bookings are received to the time final follow ups are made. Chelsea is one of the wonderful folks who answers the phone when you call to schedule your appointments.
