What is laser tattoo removal?

If you have a tattoo that you deeply regret or want a coverup, and you want to remove the tattoo altogether or fade it for a coverup tattoo, a targeted PicoWay® laser treatment is the right service for you.

The PicoWay® technology uses revolutionary picosecond technology to “shatter” tattoo ink into minuscule particles safely. It’s a super sophisticated & expensive device which is why you won’t find it available in many medi spas.

With its advanced technology, PicoWay® targets a variety of tattoo ink colours that can be difficult to remove (i.e. blue and green). It is an ideal treatment for any skin tone and is the perfect treatment for someone looking to permanently remove a tattoo, or make space for new ink!

How long will the results last from a laser tattoo removal?

The results from a laser tattoo removal treatment are permanent. You will see fading after each treatment, but multiple treatments are required for optimal full clearance results.

Cost

Starting at $175

The cost will be quoted based on the size and difficulty of removal for your specific tattoo.

Number of Treatments

This will vary from client to client and the tattoo that needs to be treated. The size of the tattoo and the colour both play a role in the number of treatments. During your initial consult Dalyce will estimate the number of treatments she anticipates for your aesthetic goals.

    • Avoid the sun 4-6 weeks before treatment, or until your physician allows it.

    • You may be asked  to stop any oral or topical medications or other skincare products (e.g. acne products, retinol or anything that could cause irritation) 3-5 days prior to treatment.

    • Tanned or darker skin types should not be treated. If treated within 2 weeks of active (natural sunlight or tanning booth) tan, you may develop hypo-pigmentation (white spots) and this may not clear for 2-3 months, or even longer.

    • The use of self-tanning skin care products must be discontinued 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. Any residual self-tanner must be removed prior to treatment.

    • Fill out consent form.

    • Our laser specialists suggest a free consultation before this treatment.

    • Once we establish laser tattoo removal is the proper treatment for your aesthetic goals, your skin is gently cleansed. Our skin care specialist utilizes our PicoWay laser machine to target the designated treatment areas.

    • If treating the upper lip, the teeth/braces may be protected with a moist, wet gauze. The gauze also serves to support the lip during treatment, allowing a surface to push against.

    • Safety considerations are important during the laser procedure. The patient and all personnel in the treatment room MUST wear protective eyewear during the procedure to reduce the risk of eye injury. Your skin care specialist will take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and comfort. *Please do not bring your child to the appointment.

    • Multiple treatments are necessary.

    • Immediately after treatment there should be a “slight frosting” on the area treated.

    • Erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) at the treatment site can occur and may last up to 2 hours or longer.

    • A small amount of pinpoint redness may also occur.

    • An ointment like Aquaphor, Aloe or Recovery Balm will be applied to the treated area.

    • After the treatment, the skin will scab over. The crust should flake off in 7-10 days.

    • It is very important not to pick, scratch or aggressively wash/scrub the area to prevent possible infection.

    • Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyper-pigmentation (darker pigmentation). High heat environments should be avoided for the remainder of the day.

    • Use sun block (SPF 30+) at all times throughout the course of your treatments. You can pick up a free sample of the Alumier MD sunblock, as they are SPF 40-42.

    • There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the area gently, as with any other wound.

    • Call or email Dalyce with any questions or concerns.
